The story of Rampur Whisky begins with the establishment of the Rampur Distillery & Chemical Company in 1943. Initially producing industrial alcohol and supplying bulk liquor, the distillery was acquired by the Khaitan family in 1972. It was under their stewardship, and with 80 years of distillation expertise, that the vision for a premium Indian single malt took shape. In 2016, Rampur Single Malt was launched, a culmination of heritage, craftsmanship, and the unique influence of the Himalayan terroir. Styled as "The Kohinoor of Single Malts," Rampur embodies the rich Indian heritage and traditions, presenting a whisky that is both luxurious and distinctly Indian.  

• Rampur whiskies typically exhibit a rich and fruity nose with notes of apricot, lychee, green apple, and pear, often accompanied by floral and honeyed undertones. The palate is complex and balanced, revealing creamy vanilla, malty sweetness, and a hint of spice like cinnamon and nutmeg. Some expressions showcase delicate peaty or salty notes. The finish is generally long and rewarding, leaving a lingering sensation of fruit and spice. Specific expressions, like the Double Cask, may offer additional notes of dried dark fruits and caramel from sherry cask influence, while others like Asava, finished in Indian Cabernet Sauvignon casks, present unique berry and winey characteristics.

To fully appreciate the nuances of Rampur Whisky, it is best enjoyed neat or with a few drops of water to open up the aromas. A Glencairn glass is ideal for concentrating the aromas. Take time to nose the whisky, identifying the layers of fruit, floral, and spice notes. On the palate, allow the whisky to coat your mouth, savoring the development of flavors and the texture. The long finish is part of the experience, so take your time to appreciate the lingering notes. Rampur can also be enjoyed on the rocks, but be mindful of dilution.
